Additional insured

Someone added to your liability policy by endorsement, usually because a contract asked for it.

What it means

An additional insured is not the named insured. They get a slice of coverage described in an endorsement—often only for liability arising out of your work or premises. The endorsement number (CG 20 10, CG 20 37, a BOP equivalent) matters more than the phrase on a certificate.

Why it shows up

Landlords, general contractors, franchisors, and venues ask to be added so a claim that starts with your operations can also defend them. Coverbird’s job is to find whether the endorsement is actually on the policy you uploaded.

What to look for

  • The exact form number on the forms schedule
  • A schedule of names versus automatic/blanket status
  • Ongoing operations versus completed operations

Coverbird reads the declarations and form schedule on the PDF you already have. It does not sell insurance or say whether a limit is enough.
