Named insured
The person or entity listed first on the declarations as the policyholder.
What it means
The named insured owns the policy. Additional insureds, loss payees, and certificate holders are not automatically named insureds. Who is listed as named insured also drives who counts as “you” in the form language.
Why it shows up
Wrong legal entity on the declarations is a common reason a certificate and a contract do not match. Franchisees and multi-location operators often have several named insureds.
What to look for
- Item 1 on the declarations
- DBA versus legal name
- Additional named insureds
Coverbird reads the declarations and form schedule on the PDF you already have. It does not sell insurance or say whether a limit is enough.
