Hired and non-owned auto
Liability for vehicles you rent, borrow, or do not own—such as an employee’s car on a company errand.
What it means
On a business auto policy this is usually symbols 8 and 9, or endorsements such as CA 20 16. On a BOP it is often BP 04 04. It is not physical damage on that rented van unless hired-auto physical damage is shown.
Why it shows up
Home-service contractors and gyms that send people on errands get this asked for on certificates even when they own no vehicles.
What to look for
- Symbols 8 and 9
- BP 04 04
- Hired auto physical damage as a separate item
Coverbird reads the declarations and form schedule on the PDF you already have. It does not sell insurance or say whether a limit is enough.
