Umbrella / excess

A policy that sits above primary GL, auto, and employers liability limits.

What it means

CU 00 01 is a common commercial umbrella form. It follows the underlying policies unless an umbrella endorsement excludes something the primary still covers. Drop-down and retained-limit wording matter when a primary aggregate is exhausted.

Why it shows up

Contracts often ask for $2M or $5M total. That is usually primary plus umbrella, not a $5M GL occurrence limit.

What to look for

  • Underlying schedule
  • Follow-form versus broader coverage
  • CU 24 03 waiver

Coverbird reads the declarations and form schedule on the PDF you already have. It does not sell insurance or say whether a limit is enough.
